The Auditory Approach
The HEAR Center started with an idea: the use of amplification (sound) in teaching the deaf and the hearing impaired to speak. We recognize that few children are totally deaf and have residual hearing and can benefit from amplification (hearing aids).
This residual hearing is amplified with hearing aids or cochlear implants. Hearing therapy for children can begin from the earliest ages - the earlier, the better. We focus on preparing hearing impaired children for mainstream education using the Auditory Approach.
Hearing loss can delay speech and language development in children and cause isolation. Hearing therapy focuses on the development of auditory skills, which leads to the ability to listen and to speak.
Support Services
The adjustment to life with hearing loss can be emotionally difficult for the whole family. At the HEAR Center, we have helped families manage these challenges for over 50 years. We have experienced audiologists and speech pathologists to provide assistance as you adjust to the changes in your life.
